This piece is deeply personal to me, born out of a moment of transition and self-discovery. I created Ebb and Flow during a time when I found myself reflecting on the ever-changing nature of life—how it oscillates between chaos and calm, movement and stillness. The sweeping curves and mirrored surfaces are an exploration of how these contrasts coexist and shape our realities.
As someone who has journeyed from Hong Kong to the bustling art scenes of the U.S., and now to the contemplative spaces of Singapore, I’ve often felt like a traveler caught between worlds. This sculpture is a manifestation of that in-between space, where boundaries blur and moments of clarity emerge.
The stainless steel, with its fluid reflections, invites the viewer to see themselves within the piece, while also dissolving into its environment. It’s a reminder that we are both distinct and inseparable from the world around us. Ebb and Flow is not just a sculpture—it’s an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to find harmony in the flux of modern life.
For me, this piece represents the quiet yet powerful resilience of the human spirit, flowing like water through the unyielding contours of existence.
